Marceline and the Scream Queens -Keila's Epilogue- by illeity Marceline and the Scream Queens -Keila's Epilogue- by illeity
MS, PS

After reading this, I realized that Keila, the ONLY OTHER vampire introduced in Adventure Time, has about zero development in the miniseries. So I decided to create a headcanon that links the two vampires together and implies what kind of history they may have. Fitting it all in one page was a pain.

I doubt they'll ever appear in the main series, so I did my best to give the best gift any creator can bestow upon characters: Story and Personality.

Wow ,this is a cool concept! I came up with one back-story ,but it's kind of ridiculous. I know the comics ,and I really wanted to see character development for Keila ,so thank you for making this! Um ,one thing though ,does Keila even have bite marks?

There was this one issue (The first, I think) where they drew Keila with Bite marks. The rest of the miniseries doesn't have them though.
And thanks, glad you liked it! :)

I don't remember her ever getting bitten by Marceline or that even being mentioned I thought she was a Frankenstein type of monster based on her looks and hair due.

She's a vampire in the comic, but everything else in this fancomic is headcanon.

Yeah both Bongo and she didn't get any development. Though of the two, she was the one that felt merged into the background (Bongo was at least displayed as sort of the comical guy). So tis nice someone give her some due. ^_^

I also wrote a review on the whole comic series over at Comicvine, so if you want my take on it, check it out: [link]

Forgot to respond to this in the end-of-semester chaos! Sorry! This was a cool idea for a comic. There was a lot more I wish they'd had time to do with the Scream Queens series, and establishing the bandmates as full characters would have been nice. I wound up including Keila in a story of mine since I needed a sort of vampire second-in-command and, as you said, she's the only other vampire we've seen. I want to know more about Marceline's interactions in the vampire world.

This seems like a perfect backstory for them. I can totally see Keila being her student and then manipulating her to get turned. Thanks for filling in more of a history for them! I hope Keila gets more to do someday, though unfortunately I doubt we'll see her again unless she appears in the main AT comic series.

Great work as always! I really dig your style of drawing these characters and use of color. I don't suppose that purple gem Marcy's wearing in the flashback has any connection to the one her dad gave her in the Nightosphere?

No worries. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on the fandom and on me stuff :)

Meredith Gran is a really talented writer with Octopus Pie, I don't know why she faltered on this. Is it because she's writing for a younger audience? Well probably never know. She seemed more aware with deflecting the wrath of hardcore Bubbliners than answering why she didn't give Keila and the rest hearts with a big presence.

As for the purple gem, I had this idea that she was giving the purple gem a try and that it was slowly making her do things she wouldn't normally do (I think being raised by Simon taught her to be good) :) Cheers :)

:) Glad it doesn't bother you when I ramble.

I'd heard a lot of compliments on her as a writer. It has to be challenging writing for an existing universe while trying to make it a stand-alone story that doesn't change the canon of the show and has a self-contained beginning, middle, and end. And yes, writing it with an audience of children in mind doesn't help, I'm sure. It is fitting to give Marceline and PB the most time as they're established characters from the show. Unfortunately, the band members were mainly filler and not as interesting to most readers as the leads, I'm sure. (Much like real band members must feel sometimes.)

Cool thought with the gem! I'm definitely looking forward to more exploration of her backstory with Simon and her interactions with her father. (More backstory for Bubblegum would be a welcome thing too!)

All the best to you!

Of course not dude. I enjoy reading your stuff :)
In fact, it's these kinds of discussions that really help me out when plotting some of my comics. You, icancheezburger, HVK, thisfreemind— there are lot of relaxed, temperate minds out there in the fandom with great thoughts on the series. I can imagine listening to you guys while shipping wars rage over the next mountain and we all just laugh and enjoy the series for what is :D

And that statement regarding how the front leads outshine the other members was something I never realized before. (The Drummers are probably the hardest working members of any rock band, but they never get as much appreciation). And you can apply that to pretty much any endeavor. Not everyone who deserves it gets their due, but we go at it anyway, because it's important for us to Give :)

Cheers!

Yay! Glad to hear you like talking about it too. I've always enjoyed analyzing relationships and details in shows and books with friends who enjoy them too. And yes, while I gladly ship characters, I can't get involved in shipping wars (or any fights amongst fans really). The writers will do what they will do with the show and we have fanfic and fanart if we want to go another direction with it. Why stress over something I enjoy? I'll have to look up the others you mentioned here. Sound like good people to know. :)

Very true about lack of appreciation for people's work. When my mom and I go to the stage door after plays (we're theatre groupies sometimes), we bring a sign that says "Ensemble, we love you too" because they never get attention from fans and work just as hard as the leads. That's why I'm a believer in doing what you do because you love it, not for the feedback/response, however much you like it.

I've been wondering if the Scream Queens might ever cameo in North's comics, or maybe a backstory comic, because the existence of the Scream Queens has been previously acknowledged in the comic and I think a Scream Queens backup drawn by Meredith would be pretty awesome if it expanded on Keila.

Solid issue. Though, of lesser quality than the AT cartoon or AT comic.
There were too many ways Meredith Gran could have added more characterization and depth, but she did her best.

Yeah, I generally fond most of the mini to be like that. It had some excellent moments but something was lacking when compared to the main comic and Toon.

It was entertaining enough to have fun with but apparently not enough for me to remember when the last issue was out.

Yes! The gift of character development! No chances of continuation in-story, so this is where the fans kick in!

Beautiful comic here. Trying to piece it together, because as always with your deeper comics it takes a few days before I understand all the subtexts.
(I'm really loving the outfit you've given Marceline in the flashback, by the way.)

>''Keila's Epilogue''

Hehe, Marceline is wearing that cliche "teacher" outfit I keep seeing in anime for some reason. :) It's a pretty simple plot, but enjoy exploring :)

I won't be making epilogues for Bongo or Guy. Waaaay too little character for either of them. As you say, Bongo is just Jake and Guy is just a sympathy whore with self esteem issues. I am writing a primary epilogue soon enough :)

This is great! Do you think you could do epilogues for the other Scream Queens characters? That would be awesome! There's no comic book store where I live, so all I know about them comes from the Internet, so it would be great to see more of them, and more of your comics!
